Periodontal surgery

Regenerative periodontal surgery restores the jawbone and increases the success rate of the dental implant

The periodontal surgery interventions are minimally invasive surgery interventions, performed under magnification (magnifying lens) and with the special microsurgery tools. They are carried out under local anesthesia, either simple anesthesia or additional anesthesia by oral sedation or intravenous conscious sedation. By using the modern surgery techniques and the newest discoveries in the field of biomaterials, the procedures have become patient-friendly, with minimum complications during surgery and post-surgery reactions and maximum predictability.

The periodontal surgery interventions refer to:

  • Surgical methods for treating the periodontal disease which, by its evolution, has deeply affected the tooth adjacent tissues (gum, bone, periodontal ligament), with the loss of periodontal attachment and formation of pockets
  • Surgical methods for treating the peri-implantitis (infections evolving around implants)
  • Mucogingival esthetic surgery techniques for recontouring/ grafting new gingival tissue in the cosmetic areas, like the frontal teeth, where there is either an excess of tissue, or it is necessary to cover the roots of teeth exposed during the recession of soft tissues
  • Bone and soft tissues regeneration in order to obtain sites which are adequate for placing implants
  • Corticotomy (surgery-assisted orthodontic treatment)
