What is an immediate loading implant?  

An immediate loading implant is an implant placed directly into the jawbone immediately after tooth extraction. Additionally, if a dental crown or bridge is affixed to the implant to restore the tooth, the procedure is still classified as an immediate loading implant.  

Immediate loading dental implants offer an ideal solution for front teeth, where extended waiting periods between extraction and implantation are undesirable due to aesthetic considerations. In such cases, instead of relying on a temporary prosthesis, patients may opt, under the guidance of Trident clinic dentists, for immediate implantation following extraction. This not only eliminates months of waiting but also eliminates the need for temporary removable prostheses.  

Immediate implantation after extraction is recommended in cases where the tooth is severely cracked or fractured beyond repair, rendering it unsalvageable. In some instances, associated infections may necessitate prompt medical intervention.  

The procedure involves extracting the compromised tooth and immediately placing a dental implant with a temporary crown on the same day, following sedation. 

How is the immediate loading implant procedure conducted?

The procedure unfolds in several stages: 

Pre-surgical planning During the initial consultation, the doctor and patient discuss and refine the details of the immediate dental implant treatment plan following tooth extraction. The doctor assesses the patient’s health status, evaluates the implantation site, and collaborates with the patient to determine the most appropriate sedation method (local, moderate, deep, etc.). 

Immediate implant placement after extraction On the day of the procedure, the patient receives local or intravenous sedation. If necessary, additional dental impressions are taken. Subsequently, the problematic tooth is gently extracted to minimize damage to surrounding tissue. The area is thoroughly cleaned, and the implant is carefully positioned. If the insertion torque permits, a dental crown may also be placed atop the implant.

Follow-up Appointment Approximately two weeks following the immediate implant placement after extraction procedure, the patient returns for a post-operative check-up and evaluation with the CEREC scanner.
