During this procedure, the gum is surgically incised and separated from the underlying teeth and alveolar bone, providing direct access and clear visibility to the treated area. This allows for the removal of diseased internal tissues in an exposed environment. Additionally, the remaining alveolar bone is addressed by cleaning, eliminating softened, osteitic areas, and smoothing sharp edges or tips. Following the procedure, the gingival tissues are repositioned and secured with sutures, minimizing the gap between the gum and the tooth, consequently reducing the potential areas for harmful bacteria growth.
