Before making preparations, in order to keep the minimally invasive nature thereof, the teeth can be aligned with the help of orthodontic appliances. The facets can cause changes in the tooth color, position and form.
The final width of facets is 0.3-0.8 mm, while the most important aspect is keeping the preparations in the enamel layer, the tooth’s protective layer.
If patients want facets made of composite materials, such facets can be placed in a single session. Ceramic needs several sessions, yet it has increased strength. The differences between the two options, in terms of costs, can be significant.

Dental facets cover the teeth natural defects

Veneers have also the role of covering the natural defects of teeth, like gaps, stains and modified position. Yet they are not recommended as replacers for braces. The procedure is not painful, as the preparation is in the superficial layer of the tooth, the dental enamel, thus most of the times it does not require anesthesia. The veneers are permanent and are not subject to alteration, just like natural teeth. Yet they require care, an examination every 6 months being mandatory.
Dental veneers have no significant adverse effects, but they must be treated with equal care as the rest of teeth
